Muster & Mortie

Muster and Mortie

Muster & Mortie

Muster Stache is an alien who used to work as a valet for UofR and Riot.

He’s is incredibly smart, unquestionably tasteful, and absolutely confident in his own abilities.

Although he looks a bit like an Earth otter, he is from another world and thus much, much better then you.

Mortie is a stowaway on UofR and Riot’s ship.   His species is quite adept at sneaking into where they shouldn’t be and like Earth rodents, almost impossible to get rid of once your infested.

Mortie is not a dog, he’s an alien, but he’s about as smart as a well trained border collie.  He’d like to think he’s much more advanced than people, or aliens, give him credit for… but he’s probably not.

Mortie and Muster have become, during their time on the ship, something of a pair, with Mortie always close at Muster’s hand.  They are an Oscar and Felix sort of Odd Couple, that is if Oscar was a dog. (Correction alien)

Klink

The Doctor is in

Every team needs a doctor

This week’s doodle is agent Klink. She is affectionately named for the sound that her robot cart makes and maybe just a little for her ridiculous German accent- I mean efficiency (don’t want to offend any Germans we Hoose have some roots there).

Klink has evolved a lot as a character from a male communication specialist to a no nonsense female doctor.

Her biggest turn-ons are: a button on the console, Wagner in the morning, long walks through the E.R. and a brand new sphygmomanometer.

Her biggest turn-offs are: a button on the console, incompetent doctors, irrational emotions and whimsy.

With Hoose too coming back from the deep South this week, I thought that I would do his post Cajun style.

Buff and tan

What's your handicap?

Best in club three years and counting

This Monday’s doodle is Agent Buff. He’s a master of disguise and the team’s key to many a closed door. He’s big, strong and smart, but he also has a little bit of a narcissist and not someone you would want to hang out with. You would want to know him when you go for a job interview.

This week’s goal was to not use any gradients to make things a little cleaner. Here’s a pic of Buff plying his trade.

Move over Oscar Meyer

Here comes the big dog

Buff came into mind pretty clear and I think I have an ideal of who he is by the second drawing. We’ll see if I can be consistent.

He’s not an Earp…

A man running from a fire plug

We're not in Tombstone anymore

This is Wyatt.

Wyatt is a used car salesman, the primary human contact for UofR and Riot, an unofficial ambassador for Earth, and the alien duos unauthorized Public Relations Manager.

He’s slick, he’s smart, and he’s manipulative, but ends up spending a lot of time catering to UofR’s whims.

However Wyatt is no slouch.  He most definitely has his own agenda and he’s always working… and working the angles… to make sure that when things go down he ends up on top.

Velvet…

Velvet's Back

Velvet's Back

The smoking gun

Better than Bond

This is agent Velvet. She’s can do anything that James Bond can do, but in heals. I

think of her as May West meets Urtha Kit and all that that entails.

She’s the member of the team that gets into tough spots undetected. She’s smooth, but not soft.

I haven’t quite got her character sheet down yet, but I will show you my second two drawings of her (the first one wasn’t worth scanning, but it did lead the way here, and I might show it later because it has more characters on it that I don’t want to reveal yet).

A spy is born

My second drawing and really the first one of our Velvet

The sketch above is sort of the concept car. I know that pose is impossible, but I think it captures the spirit of the character and the ideal of a very smooth (sexy) walk. I haven’t been able to match that completely yet, but I’m trying.

This next sketch is my third drawing of Velvet and shows that she will be one of our agents of disguise.

She makes that dress look good

A little diversion with 18 and 2 half spots

Consider the lady bug

Consider the lady bug she doesn't strive or build and yet what king can fly as she does

Fear not. There are more agents and aliens coming, but this Monday brings a diversion.

I went on a short retreat yesterday to the beautiful fields of Canandaigua.

The first thing on the agenda was a gift of 40 minutes. Go away from everyone else, find a place where you can appreciate nature, and appreciate it.

We were given a section fo the bible to focus on where Jesus recruits the first apostles, but we were given the option to ignore it and nap or lollygag then come back in 40.

As I sat I felt something land on me. Having focused on scripture and trying hard to be open to inspiritation I watched it. The Lord brought to mind the scripture that says to consider the lilies of the valley, they neither spin or weave and yet are dressed better than any king. I am intentionally paraphrasing because I didn’t stop  to look up the verse I just remembered it as best as I could, and watched this little creature.

I watched this insect take a bath on my hand and fold and unfold it’s right wing (I guess the left one was on break). It’s wing was probably twice the length of it’s body and yet it folded it up into it’s wing casing without difficulty. I counted the spots. Eighteen and two halves that formed a nineteenth spot when the wing casing was closed. I watched it’s head turn and it’s legs stroke all the parts of it’s body it could reach (maybe trying to get my smell off, or maybe using mine as cologne).

This little insect wasn’t at all self-conscious that I was watching it’s bath, or worried about what I thought of it. It was amazing. It flew off and landed on me again and I resisted the temptation to draw it while it was there. I just looked.

In the verses that we read Jesus called the first apostles and they left everything they had to follow him. This insect had only what God gave it and that was sufficient. To avoid anthropomorphising I will say that I don’t think the insect felt or planned anything (I don’t know) but it helped me get perspective on what I need.

The moment was more profound to me than I seem to be able to express, and I encourage you to take/borrow/steal 40 minutes some time this week to just look and be open to inspiration.

Quiet Riot

Hoose 2 posting on behalf of Hoose 1, cause Hoose 2 broke Hoose 1’s computer.

This is Riot…

Riot is one of UofR’s subordinates, actually he’s UofR’s only subordinate.  He’s strong, he’s smart, and he’s self controlled, which means he’s the perfect Yin to UofR’s Yang.

He’s handy in a scrap and loyal to a fault, whatever the hairbrained idea.

Riot -v- Raccoons

RACCOOOOONS!!!

We are men of action…

Lies do not become us. I just love that line from The Princess Bride and here’s a guy who would give Wesley a run for his money left or right handed.

Oh say can you see

Introducing Agent Abe (don't ask about his relations)

This week’s new character is agent Abe. He never tells a lie, so he doesn’t talk very much. It’s rumored that Abe once remained in the air for seven minutes after taking off for a flying kick.

He’s laconic, he’s tough and he’s more than willing to open up a can of star spangled hurt.

Because of significant computer problems I couldn’t scan my final sketch (and we can’t find our digital camera) and had to use Freehand to trace an early one. It took way longer than I expected, but technically it’s still Monday so my streak is on. I will do my best to include some other sketches of Abe that I made this week, but couldn’t upload.

Look for more agents and some not so agenty folks coming up.

There’s more than one Hoose in the House!

Rain or snow or alien invasion will not stop the US Mail

UofaR

When I named this blog Doodle Hoose I always had in mind that Hoose is both the plural and the singular. Today’s bonus blog is brought to you by my brother Matt.

He felt that he had to include a character riding something blue to follow Mercury.

Here’s his explanation of his character Uofar
His name is UofR and he is the supreme leader of an advance group of alien beings; if you can call two aliens a group.

UofR is action oriented and never lets his lack of a plan get in the way of getting things done.  He will always put his whole heart into achieving his alien goals, whatever those goals might be.

Although UofR is not particularly bright, he doesn’t see why that should be an issue… what sort of monument have brains and brawn ever erected that sheer determination couldn’t match… or at least pull down.

In a world that is very foreign to him UofR is making his own way. Engage!

Matt

Here’s another sketch of our fearless leader.

The one that didn't get away

I'm a mammal you idiot!

Here’s a first round of the character and some other folks you’ll see soon.

A trio of trouble
