Career military, stern disciplinarian, strawberry blonde hair, and hot lips.

I'm going to report this to General Hammond.

1 Corinthians 1:18

While We Were Yet Sinners

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

For this Monday I struggled to make an illustration for Easter. I made this piece by drawing what was around the cross, and leaving the paper in the center white. The cross is empty because Christ is no longer on it.

Frank Burns

Here’s the thing. When we meet Frank he’s already spent a year dealing with Trapper’s hedonism and Blake’s apathy… so he’s on edge. He’s a good-to-great surgeon in ideal conditions, but conditions aren’t ideal at the 4077th. He’s feeling the stress.

Yeah, you drugging me and putting me in that box was funny. You guys are swell.

Yeah, you drugging me and putting me in that box was funny. You guys are swell.

He only manages a bit more then 5 months under the combined weight of Hawkeye and Trapper. They eventually break him and he goes home on a medical after losing 40 pounds and breaking out in hives all over his body.

Angry Birds are After You

"Hmmmmmmmm"

“Hmmmmmmmm” J says, “They don’t talk normal”

Rob's Phone April 2015 983

This week’s doodle has gone 3D! J made these sculptures this week because he likes Angry Birds (you might have noticed that from his last post of “Birds and Bombs”).

You can see that he has created two of his favorite birds with red and blue, but he has also added to the pantheon of frustrated foul the Atomic Robo Bird.

J says, “Next we’ll have a Dr. Dinosaur pig”

Doodlehoose versus Artist’s Block

I faced down Hemingway's greatest fear!

I faced down Hemingway’s greatest fear!

Woke up this morning excited about having the day off and having time to make a brand new post for Doodlehoose. Then immediately felt blocked. So i worked on drawing from reference, and from other artists with blah results. Then i decided to embrace the block, and today’s post was born.

Henry Blake

I'm going home.

I’m going home.

For my M*A*S*H reimagining Blake is not a draftee. Instead he’s career military, counting out the last few days until his twenty years are in and he can finally retire.

He only overlaps with Hawkeye for one year of service before his time in Korea is up. The reason you see such an uptick in Henry’s overall demeanor is this excitement about heading home… SPOILER ALERT… he doesn’t make it.

You’re a Daisy if You Do

In Vito Veritas

In Vito Veritas

Okay this week’s post was a tough one to get done. I tried many drawings and didn’t like them. Then I decided to use all stolen textures and that probably took longer to do than just digitally painting it. I wouldn’t know where to begin citing my sources, but I did purloin a pic of 1880s Tombstone Arizona for the background (or what the interweb claimed to be 1880s Tombstone- there was no fact checking for this post). Also the poster format is obviously snatched from the 1993 movie. This was inspired by a conversation I had with my brother last night wherein he could not stop coughing.

Trapper

Here’s Hawkeye’s good buddy Trapper on his 365th day of active duty and his last.

I could care less, but it would be difficult.

I could care less, but it would be difficult.

In my re-imagining Pierce didn’t show up until a year into the war. Trapper was there from the beginning. They meet and spend a year making trouble for Blake and the rest of the 4077th, then Trapper goes home at the end of his two year stint.

Birdies and Bombs

Bird and Bombs

J presents this week’s post “Birdies and Bombs.” He says that this work shows, “That birds can explode easily.” He said his inspiration was because, “He likes birds.” I asked him how that works with blowing them up and he said, “because I’m crazy.” I’m thinking it might also have something to do with his love of Angry Birds (I hope). I know his hunting grandpa might express the same feelings.

This is My Boom Stick

Gimme some sugar baby

Gimme some sugar baby

While watching Burn Notice I decided to draw Bruce in an earlier incarnation. Didn’t get time to do the color, but I want to. Bruce Campbell is so good at making movies that are more fun to quote than to actually watch.
