Three Eyes to the Wind

Alien Bender

3 Eyes 2 the Wind

I wanted to give this a better color, or more precisely I wanted to color this even a little, but ran out of time.

This is an alien that’s had one too many of those canisters, which contain a mild hallucinogen and something similar to Earth alcohol.

What I wanted to convey here is a sort of stumbling drunk.  I wanted the character to appear old, but not too old… because he’s still got plenty of fight left in him.

You’ll see that he’s sorta built, but that his one arm is shriveled.  This was the result of a childhood injury, like Jem Finch but you know an alien.  He’s spent his entire life feeling a bit self conscious and that’s why he’s always so eager for a fight.

Basically if you see this dude stumbling towards you, cross the street.

P.S. I blurred his tattoos cause they’re obscene… or at least they are in his language.

99 doodles of Hoose on the Web, 99 doodles of Hoose

A fancy new swimming dress

So this week I reimagine Merfolk. My thoughts are that sailors used to see them so often because they are mammals and need to breathe on the surface. I think they got here before humans evolved and possibly came from Mars while it was still wet. We don’t see them as often as we used too because they got annoyed with us and developed the technology required to breathe underwater all the time.

Those are my first thoughts and drawings. I don’t know where this one is going, but it definitely qualifies as a doodle and it’s our 99th post! I hope you like it.

Here’s a couple of random sketches, cause I couldn’t get anything done that I liked.

Something percolating

Swords into Plowshares

So Hoose Two posted a Robot with a Rider a couple of weeks ago called Something Steamy (if you haven’t seen it then look at the old posts and check it out (it’s cool)). When I talked to him about it he said it was part of a world where there were mysterious robots about. That got me to thinking about what some of those bots might be doing and go the brain percolating. I wouldn’t say my drawings are steamy yet. They still need a little more time to boil, but I suspect that there is a story coming someday.

This is JD and if you don’t know why He’s called that then you don’t farm. He was slightly damaged when the humans struck and he’s been “reassigned” to work for men. I don’t know his whole story yet and I really don’t know what’s floating over the horizon in the background, but I know that JD loves the soil.

JD

Above is my first attempt at a character sheet. I liked it, but my wife asked if I was making a tractor transformer and I thought the design needed to be adjusted. He is not a transformer. The cap was attached for shading the rider, but just to make sure I took it off the second round.

Sorry it took me so long.

I did a quick Invincible fanart drawing of Conquest last night, gave it a rough color today, but couldn’t post it late.  Sorry for the delay.

Salty and Sweet

She’s a cookie, he’s a monster. Together, their Carl and Sandra and they’ve been dating for 6 months.

Sandra is dropping hints about letting the lease expire on her loft, and Carl’s a little worried… he hasn’t told her about his sleep eating!

Now with a bonus dimension

Hulk Sculpt!

This week’s post is going to stretch the definition of a doodle to include sculpture. I haven’t had a chance to paint it yet, but I had so much fun with the Avengers movie that I decided to sculpt a Hulk. I did it as a teacher sample for my art club and they didn’t seem to care so I thought I would share it here.

Here are the several sides of Hulk.

Hulk Turn!

I am planning to paint it and I am in the process of making a Wonder Woman to take on the Hulk  so there will be more 3D (it’s such a trendy word) posts, but you won’t have to pay an extra four bucks for the glasses.

I’ve also included the pic below to give you a sense of scale.

Hulk getting in touch with his special lady.

Hulk Text!

And because I don’t like posting without giving you at least one finished product (as finished as I ever get them). Here is a bonus Wolverine marker rendering I made yesterday because I needed a break from sculpting.

An Idea & Some Color

Wildthing and The Gentleman

WILDTHING & The Gentleman

One is a proper English gentleman, the other is a raving lunatic… they’re both, Los Angeles County Sheriffs Deputies.

Who knows what trouble awaits WILDTHING & The Gentleman!

… Still just a notion, not even fully an idea.
Plus a bonus, old drawing made colorish.

Makes you Wonder

Wonder Woman Flying past Andy's room

The kind of jet Jack Donaghy will buy when his wine goes big with the hip hop scene

This week I’m dipping into my rainy day folder. I was planning to post another Hulk, but didn’t finish yet (finishing up week two of a low level cold that is wearing away at me (so tired (such a lame excuse))). I went on a Wonder Woman spree a little while ago during our TAG/Yurit season and didn’t post em. I’m going to show you two of those and then let you anticipate that there are more that will be sprung upon you at random times.

The first one up there is drawn by hand and colored in photoshop. I always liked the idea of an invisible jet, but often wondered how you would find where you parked it. I suppose it would be the landing gear shaped depressions in the grass and the constant head bumping by joggers. I also think this picture could be interpretted as a Wonder Woman Barbie flying around in Andy’s room. So you are allowed to take it either way (or make up your own interpretation we are postmodern after all).

The pic below is a bit more raw. The only thing I did digitally was scan it and crop a little. So this was me in insomniac mode with limited markers and no patience for polish. I think that the minator is pretty well accepted as the epitome of testastarone so it seemed fitting that our feminine hero take him out.
