This morning I am putting up a quick little marker rendering. I think it’s fun and has a good energy to it. I have some other things in the works and may get more out today, but I’m not sure if I can finish them so I wanted to give you this as an appetizer.
The different light sources are the little gray dots.
An attempt at shading a character from some different lighting directions, with a very rough color tossed in for fun.

Okay today has had a bit of frustration with my scanner going on and off, but I was able to scan something with no time left to color it.
I updated the Amazing team of Firestar, Iceman and Spidey with Cheeks’ Spectacular redesign taking 1981 to 2008 (now I’m only 5 years behind). I think it works and can’t wait to get you the color version. Until then you should print it and bust out the crayons. Then send me a pic.

Here are two versions of a graphic for a story idea I’ve had. I like the clean look of the first one, but not the composition. I like the composition and the rough look of the second one… I just wish it wasn’t so rough all over.
It’s an idea I’m working on for a detective story, with a twist.

Today’s post is brought to you from my classroom. I teach a class called Scientific Imaging and one of the main goals of the class is to integrate art and science. We just studied the effects of radiation on the human body and figured out how many mrems our distance from a nuclear power plant, our altitude above sea level and the number of x-rays etc. dose our bodies with. Then, of course, we made super hero drawings.
My origin story is that a tricky student substituted my regular pen with one that was filled with radioactive ink. Just as a I was attaching the F to a subpar assignment I poked myself and was transformed into a red raging maniac. Now whenever I see an assignment that is not passing I mutate and destroy!
We also talked about how super heroes and villians often come from the things we fear so we tied it back in. There’s more A-team on the way!
